Finnish rock band Soundrun has released its debut album In the Fire. Alongside the album, the band is unveiling a music video for Burning the Diesel, the album’s first single.
Across eight tracks, In the Fire draws from hard, alternative, southern and blues rock while balancing classic influences with a fresh approach. The album’s songs revolve around perseverance, overcoming adversity, chasing something better and finding the courage to move forward.
“We had been talking about making an album for a long time. For us, an album feels like a bigger achievement than an EP and has a different kind of weight to it. One of our goals was to make the record as diverse as possible. We wanted different tempos, moods and song structures so that the album would offer plenty of variety from start to finish,” says drummer Jouni Juntunen.
Founded in 2021, Soundrun has previously released three EPs and several standalone singles. Operating with a DIY mindset, Soundrun combines raw energy and tight grooves with influences ranging from Jimi Hendrix and Led Zeppelin to Queens of the Stone Age.
Burning the Diesel was the first single released from the album and serves as a tribute to hardworking people. It was followed by the title track In the Fire and later by Wings, a track rooted in classic rock traditions. With the release of the album, Burning the Diesel now gets its own music video, showcasing the band’s live energy and musicianship.
“We chose Burning the Diesel for the video simply because we think it’s one of the strongest tracks on the album. It also has enough energy to make the performance look good on screen. We probably played the song 30 or 40 times during the shoot, and I was completely exhausted for a couple of days afterwards. I even told Hannu that the next music video should be for a ballad or a waltz,” Juntunen laughs.
