Doomsday’s Cavalcade Echoes From The Northern Wilderness
Founded in the year of the lord, 2020, Alijumala, hailing from Rautalampi, Finland, is to release their eponymous EP digitally on the 30th of June. First peek behind the curtains happens to the tune of the song Lilith as the band now release a video single from their forthcoming album.
Alijumala pays tribute and is influenced by older thrash classics, humbly bowing to the masters. A sturdy organic sound has been the goal as guitars and drums have been mixed in raw without amp modeling. The soundscape of the fresh band has tickled some interest from older generation musos as well. As a result, Jukka Ruostila, a vocal production specialist known from Kaaoksen Ystävät and My Fate suggested working together with the EP. This cooperation has further allowed Anttu Röntynen to develop the variety and depth in his vocals.
“I have sought visual style with the lyrics which are based on my own erotic nightmares mixed with the myth of Lilith. According to legend, Lilith flew especially to the beds of young boys and made them have sexual dreams. In the early days, sides of beds were decorated with runes with the purpose of fending off this wretched first wife of Adam. As is known, fire consumes everything, and this is the solution the song’s narrator finds relief in as well,” the band’s vocalist Anttu Röntynen opens up about the story behind the song.
